It is with great pride and honour to share that our Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Crozier, was invited on June 8th to accept the LW Shemilt Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater, McMaster University.

Chris Crozier and Heather Sheardown

The award recognizes an engineering alumnus “whose accomplishments and contributions are of national or international significance and have had a transformative impact on their field of endeavour.” Named after Dr. Les Shemilt, professor emeritus Chemical Engineering and second Dean, Faculty of Engineering, this award is in association with a celebration of alumni, faculty, students, and friends of McMaster Engineering, and encompasses a recognition by their community for outstanding accomplishments.

“Chris is a leader, innovator, and visionary,” said Heather Sheardown, Dean, Faculty of Engineering. “His dedication to driving the field of engineering forward is an inspiration and we are so happy to call Chris an alumnus and now, the recipient of one of our most prestigious awards.”

As CEO and Chairman of Crozier’s Board of Directors, Chris leads the development of the company’s strategic direction and provides leadership to its officers, executives, and shareholders. Chris holds a Civil Engineering and Management degree from McMaster University and has over 30 years of consulting experience in municipal site servicing and water resources engineering. In 2017, he was named one of McMaster University Faculty of Engineering’s Top 150 Alumni. He maintains his involvement with the university as a member of the Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Board and is an employer of numerous McMaster Engineering graduates and co-op students.

“It truly is an honour,” said Chris Crozier. “This recognition does not come without the support of my family, colleagues, and the Fireball Family. McMaster is where my journey began, and I am forever thankful for my experience and relationships that I have built along the way.”

Chris remains committed to supporting engineering students’ pursuit of education such that in 2021, the company launched its inaugural C.F. Crozier & Associates Inc. Bursary supporting a deserving upper year engineering student at McMaster. This year’s 2023 student recipient is Brandon Garfield who will be going into his fifth year of mechanical engineering in the fall of 2023. Brandon is a student representative of the McMaster Students Union, participating in programs that provide a better student experience. Brandon shared with us his experience at AtoBe – Azrieli College of Engineering Startup Accelerator in Jerusalem, Israel. During his time there, Brandon worked alongside professional engineers at four startups, designing new products and creating prototypes.
