Canada’s Largest Childcare Centre Opens in Brampton, Ontario

Surrounded by greenery and residential areas, Lullaboo Wanless is now the largest childcare center in Canada. Welcoming 365 children, the new facility is located in north Brampton, Ontario, with easy commuting access in the GTA for parents and employees.

With several locations across Ontario, Lullaboo “facilitates learning opportunities while supporting social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children.” So far this year, Lullaboo has received the honour of being recognized as the top choice preschool in the GTA by Top Choice Awards.

Founders, Irini and Halim Mikhael, are the entrepreneurs behind the successful operation – an idea that stemmed from their personal childcare experience. Both are actively involved in the business, emphasizing a high-level of care within each center and communities they serve. Lullaboo has partnered with the University of Guelph to support Early Childhood Education, and the SickKids Foundation.

“We started this business to make sure that we can trust our own children into this institution into every classroom and with every teacher,” said Irini Mikhael, Chief Operating Officer. “It’s the same values and attributes that we look for in everybody else. Do we have that trust in the person? Do they share the same values, the same regard of children’s capabilities and potential that we would trust our own children with? Those types of values are very important in the industry as we’re dealing with vulnerable children that need to be cared for. We believe in ensuring that everybody is there for the right reason – for the children in Lullaboo’s care.”

Irini was named Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 in 2019 and 2020, and won the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award for the Young Entrepreneur Under 40 in 2019. Most recently, Irini and Halim have been named one of the 10 Most Visionary Leaders to Watch in 2023. These achievements speak volumes to the facilities and the successful impact on children Lullaboo cares for.

Recently opened, Lullaboo Wanless is a four-storey, 20,000 sq. ft. building with floor-to-ceiling windows. Each level consists of purposeful rooms designed and designated for infants to preschoolers, with their own washrooms to maximize care and minimize student movement between rooms.

“Being a premier educational institution, you start from the ground up and create something that you believe in wholeheartedly. You do it for the better good and not a commercial activity,” said Halim Mikhael, President and Chief Executive Officer. “It is something that is there for advancing the next generation and to see how your positive impact can be felt. Naturally, when you do that well, everything else will come together, and the whole-hearted passion that you have becomes evident to everybody that crosses your path.”

A combination of location and demand in the area will allow for new and growing families to enroll their children in this trusted custom designed facility, while offering many educators a thriving career.
