In 2009, Crozier was retained by the Sheffield Park Black History & Cultural Museum in the Village of Clarksburg, Ontario to provide structural engineering services associated with the restoration of two historically significant buildings with a total floor area of 7,200 sq.ft.
The buildings were originally constructed by the local Mennonite community circa the early 20th century using built-up timber frame portal truss systems. Given their communal and historic significance, the museum director’s use and occupancy goal was to preserve the integrity and aesthetics of these buildings.
Crozier completed a structural engineering analysis and developed a reinforcing/construction design in keeping with the Museum’s aesthetic considerations and conditions for public occupancy and permitted use of the facilities. Crozier assisted the museum through construction management, project certification and facility occupancy.
With the completion of the structural retrofits, the buildings now house the Museum’s primary antique and artifact display venues which is catered to the general public and elementary classes from around North America.
