Nestled atop the Niagara Escarpment in Burlington, Ontario, Lowville Golf Club is one of the most scenic golf courses in the Greater Toronto Area. Faced with increasing water use restrictions, Lowville Golf Club retained Crozier & Associates to assist with a major irrigation reservoir expansion to secure long-term water taking operations to support their successful business.
Crozier & Associates initiated the project by conducting in-stream flow monitoring, preliminary water budget assessments, and liaising with the Niagara Escarpment Commission, Conservation Halton, Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, Halton Region and the City of Burlington from which approvals were required. Having established the approvals parameters with the agencies, Crozier & Associates moved into the detailed design and approvals phase for the 5 million gallon reservoir expansion, which was considered a ‘small dam’ under the Lakes & Rivers Improvement Act.
Approvals were secured in the summer of 2012 allowing the Club to proceed with construction immediately following the golf season, and complete construction prior to opening day in 2013 entirely without golf course disruption.
