Hockey Helps the Homeless York Region

The Crozier team competes in the Hockey Helps the Homeless York Region tournament

On December 12, members of the Crozier team laced up their skates to take part in the Hockey Helps the Homeless York Region tournament, raising awareness and critical funds for local homelessness support services.

In York Region, it’s estimated that 1,400 men, women, and children experience homelessness on any given night. Hockey Helps the Homeless recognizes there is no single pathway into homelessness, and no single solution. Funds raised from the York Region tournament go to Blue Door and 360 Kids, local organizations that provide programs focused on housing, mental health, education, employment, transportation, and wellness to help individuals and families find stability and long-term support.

Crozier on the Ice

Team Crozier was led by captain Travis Gibson and included Brandon Bradt, Geoff Masotti, James Fletcher, Jeff Swartz, John Willsey, Matt Britton, and Trevor Fraser, along with friends of Crozier who helped round out the roster. Together, the team spent the day competing, connecting, and rallying behind a shared cause.

Through their fundraising efforts, Team Crozier raised $12,907.75, contributing to the tournament’s current fundraising total of $247,962.41.

“Being part of Hockey Helps the Homeless is about more than hockey — it’s about showing up for our community,” said Travis Gibson, Team Captain. “The fact that our team could come together, bring friends along, and raise nearly $13,000 for local organizations like Blue Door and 360°kids is something I’m incredibly proud of.”

Building Stronger Communities

At Crozier, we believe in contributing to the well-being of the communities where we live and work. Participating in events like Hockey Helps the Homeless is one of the many ways our team supports initiatives that create meaningful, lasting impact beyond the projects we design and build.

As of December 18th, total funds are just shy of the $250,000 goal for the tournament.

Please help us fund organizations that provide resources for community members experiencing homelessness, and donate on our team fundraising page.
