Significant Proposed Changes to the Greater Golden Horseshoe’s Land Use Plans

In February 2015, a provincially led Advisory Panel initiated a coordinated review of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the Greenbelt Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Niagara Escarpment Plan.

The panel’s deliberations have given rise to a comprehensive set of recommended changes to the four land use plans – these are outlined in their final report “Planning for Health, Prosperity and Growth in the Greater Golden Horseshoe: 2015-2041”.

Proposed policy adjustments – which bear on a broad range of interest including boundaries and guidelines for the Greenbelt, where and how communities and related infrastructure grow, and the protection of water resources and natural heritage – will have a deep impact on land-use plans and development in the region.
