Highland Glen Golf Clubhouse

Highland Glen Golf Club is a Heathlands-style 18-hole golf course in Priceville, Ontario. Following a change of ownership in the fall of 2014, plans were initiated for a new 3,600 square-foot clubhouse and select course upgrades. Working closely with the project architect, Crozier & Associates provided the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering design and approvals for the project.

In addition to lot grading, septic works were completed in support of site plan approval. The new clubhouse, which tripled the capacity of the original structure, was built on a concrete foundation and designed with conventional wood framing and with steel moment frames, to carry lateral wind loading. Design features included vaulted ceilings in the lounge constructed with wood scissor trusses; heightened ceilings on the south face achieved with mono wood trusses; and window expanses overlooking the patio and greens, to create a spacious feel.

The facility, with capacity for 120 people, was fitted to service a pro shop, bar, dining room, and stone-clad double-sided propane fireplace. Three house furnaces replaced roof top mechanicals to satisfy the Owner’s request for a peaked roof profile and slot diffusers hidden in bulkheads, kept the vaulted ceilings uncluttered.

With tightened timelines to meet the 2015 golf season, construction continued through the winter months and the clubhouse was successfully completed and open for member use in May of 2015.
