A centuries old ship building site on Collingwood’s downtown waterfront is being transformed into a mixed-use development. The master-planned community envisions 600 units of housing and 35,000 sq. ft. of commercial space interspersed with parklands, promenades and other public amenities.
Crozier & Associates has provided civil engineering design support from the project’s inception including involvement in site remediation, re-designation/re-zoning, detailed site servicing design and construction management.
Of particular challenge to re-development of the property were constraints posed by Collingwood Harbour’s Remedial Action Plan (RAP) status, the Pretty River floodplain, and the proximity of existing municipal roads and infrastructure.
Innovative stormwater design developed by Crozier & Associates successfully addressed stringent water quality objectives, safe ingress/egress requirements, and flood proofing of the site from the high water levels of Georgian Bay.
