Pioneer Energy is a Canadian-owned network of gasoline/ convenience retail locations offering one-stop shopping to motorists across Ontario. Founded in Hamilton in 1956, it is Canada’s third largest independent fuel retailer by volume with more than 140 independently-operated locations, stretching from Windsor to Ottawa and north to Sudbury and Timmins. Pioneer actively invests in upgrading existing locations and building modern, new sites bringing a higher level of one-stop convenience to their customers.
Beginning in 2010, Crozier & Associates has worked with Pioneer on gas station redevelopments in Collingwood, Mississauga and Oakville. For the Pioneer Gas Bar at the Thomas Street site in Mississauga, an infill site servicing and grading plan was designed in keeping with the neighbourhood and addressing concerns over noise walls, grading and access to existing sanitary, water and storm sewers.
At our inaugural site in Collingwood, the plan was to increase the retail store footprint of an existing gas station with the inclusion of a coffee store and car wash in the new building design. The design and construction was purposefully managed in just over one year, allowing the existing station to remain operational for a large share of the busy summer season.
