We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Private Servicing (Onsite Wastewater) team in our Guelph office. We are looking for a technically focused person who has considerable AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience and an interest in designing onsite sewage systems.

Our team delivers a variety of engineering projects related to private servicing. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of technically challenging projects, ranging from residential single family homes to very large custom homes, to larger commercial and industrial systems and golf courses.

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Provide support to professional engineers and technical employees on a variety of onsite wastewater projects.
  • Attend project site to conduct installation inspections, including supervision of test pits and analyzing soil samples.
  • Prepare calculations to size onsite sewage systems (for example, septic systems).
  • Prepare lot grading plans and site servicing plans.
  • Prepare designs for onsite sewage systems using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist with writing reports and supporting documentation for project submissions.
  • Assist with Ministry of Environment applications and preparing reports and forms for applications.
  • Liaise with clients and review/permitting agencies.

What you bring:

  • A graduate from an Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology, or a related program.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Technician (C.Tech.) with OACETT.
  • Minimum two (2) years related design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, as well as other business software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with civil design, such as grading and servicing.
  • Experience in the onsite industry is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (Part 8), Provincial and Municipal standards and their application to specific projects.
  • Working knowledge of the municipal development approval process (for example zoning bylaw amendments and site plan approvals).
  • Self-motivated individual possessing strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines, track status, and facilitate progress on multiple projects.
  • Valid “G” driver’s license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to/from project sites.
