How you will contribute to the team:

We are looking for a Civil Engineering student that is interested in gaining valuable engineering experience in the land development industry over the summer months. In this role you would be assisting our Construction Services team with field inspection on a variety of residential and commercial projects.

  • Observe construction of servicing works and road construction on various project sites.
  • Document daily construction activity and transfer onsite log data to formalized construction files.
  • Assist with take-off of material quantities for preparation of construction cost estimates and payment certificates.
  • Survey in-field construction as well as various smaller residential projects.
  • Gather as-built data onsite and transfer to drawing files.
  • Liaise with contractors and municipality engineering staff to ensure construction complies with approved drawings; assist in resolving problems and discrepancies.
  • Review design standards from various agencies and authorities to ensure drawings comply with municipal and/or other agency standards.

What you bring:

  • You are a current student enrolled in either a university undergraduate Civil Engineering program or a college Civil Engineering Technician or Technology program.
  • Some experience inspecting construction projects or similar type of field work is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with municipal standards and requirements within Ontario.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Excellent org
  • Valid “G” driver’s license in good standing and have access to a vehicle for commuting to project locations.
  • Must be comfortable with working outside.
