We looking for a Water Resources Engineering Intern (EIT) to join our team in our Guelph office.

In this role you’ll gain technical experience in a wide range of projects, while working alongside experienced leaders in stormwater and floodplain management.

How you will contribute to the team:

  • Prepare detailed water resources modelling, design, and studies for a wide variety of residential, commercial and transportation projects, including sub watershed plans, functional servicing reports, floodplain assessments, capacity studies, erosion control and storm water management studies.
  • Participate on various project teams to identify issues, modify designs to satisfy approval requirements, assisting our clients in advancing projects toward completion.
  • Obtain materials, gather data/info from various sources to prepare reports and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation of hydrologic & hydraulic modelling, detailed design, and related studies to support a wide variety of land development projects, including natural channel design/realignments, floodplain & stormwater management, and Low Impact Development (LID).
  • Develop and enhance overall knowledge of municipal engineering standards and reviewing agencies requirements with Conservation Authorities (i.e. Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), and ongoing liaison with same.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize technical reports and design briefs to summarize analyses, including document production and circulation.
  • Prepare for and attend meetings to support Engineers.
  • Collaborate with other civil engineering specialties to gain knowledge of all facets of land development engineering.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Environmental, Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience, preferably in an engineering consulting environment.
  • Experience in preparation and analysis of hydrologic and hydraulic computer modelling.
  • Working experience with hydraulic (HEC-RAS) and hydrologic (SWMHYMO, PCSWMM) modelling software as well as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or Civil3D would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of municipal land development principles and requirements within the Province of Ontario.
  • Strong communication and technical report writing skills, alongside the ability to prioritize multiple project timelines.
  • Excellent time management skills, project coordination, with the ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.
