As he made his way to the podium (still wearing his ticket selling hat for our charity raffle!) the applause and smiles spread through the room. Principal and founder Christopher Crozier presented Felix with a certificate of honour and a $1,000 cash award towards the cost of his engineering studies.
The Crozier Way Scholarship, which will be awarded annually, recognizes the engineering co-op student that best exemplifies a commitment to professional development and workplace performance, with a genuine respect for client, community and colleague relationships.
Felix was profiled earlier this year on our website and in a recent email, he wrote these words about his experience, for us to share here:
My 12 month co-op placement with Crozier & Associates has been an absolute pleasure and unforgettable experience. Looking back to the first day I walked through the office doors, I was anxious and eager to take my first steps towards an engineering career. Coming in with no prior experience, I had no idea what to expect and even less of an idea of how I was going to deliver. Four years spent into my Civil Engineering program and suddenly I was back to square one.
It didn’t take me long however to realize I was in good hands, and I had nothing to worry about. There was never a time where I felt I had nobody to go to for guidance, whether it was in regards to technical work or simply to satisfy my own personal curiosities. I received a tremendous amount of support at every level, and it was truly humbling to be part of a team that was never afraid to embrace the grind to get results.
Throughout my co-op, I was presented with many opportunities to experience working with each different department within the firm. I felt this gave me a greater appreciation of how a successful business is run, and how I could use this experience to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to engineering. There was never a dull moment in the office and each day presented a new challenge.
However, it was the life outside of the office environment that really stuck out to me. Getting to interact with everyone on a more personal level was hands down the most memorable part of this entire experience. From after hour hockey nights, to corporate events like the Polar Bear Dip, there was little to miss about being away from home.
The level of commitment displayed from each person towards the company and each other really inspired me to devote all my efforts into making an impact at Crozier’s, and I hope that I can continue to do so as I progress with my career.Print This Post | Back to News
