Barrie, Ontario – From the foundations of patriarch Stephen Pratt’s first home-build in Barrie, Ontario, Pratt Homes has become, fittingly, a household name in the region. For over 100 years, successive generations of the family have grown the firm into one of the area’s largest builders of detached, condos and townhomes. As founder of the successful Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) approved Rent-to-Own program, as well as other various owner assistance and low deposit structure programs, Pratt Homes has made the dream of home ownership a reality for generations of area residents.
Crozier & Associates, through our association with Ian S. Malcolm Architects, is providing engineering support for Pratt Homes’ newest community, YONGE STATION. Just minutes from Barrie’s South GO Station, it is aptly referred to as “A Community on the Go” and is the first in Barrie to host landmark art installations. The works, commissioned to renowned artist Ron Baird, creator of Barrie’s famous Spirit Catcher, will merge elements of Barrie’s GO station, the up and coming South-End and Barrie’s existing art culture to complement the unique positioning of this new community.
Crozier & Associates is integrating project requirements for the development’s 2 four-story condominium buildings with a multi-disciplinary team of structural, mechanical, electrical and stormwater engineers. This in-house coordination of expertise streamlines detailed design and regulatory approvals for, among other components, the building and underground parking structures, HVAC, sprinkler systems, domestic water and sanitary systems, electrical distribution, lighting, heat tracing, fire alarm and CO monitoring.
Currently in pre-construction stage, Phase 1 of Yonge Station has hit 60% in sales since its Grand Opening in May. For more information on Pratt Homes and the Yonge Station community, visit:
